Incident Commander Requirements
1. Directly responsible to the Academy Coordinator for the effective and efficient functioning of the Recruit academy Skills Sessions requiring live fire training.
2. Directly responsible to the Training Division to ensure officers and staff provide a positive and ethical role model for recruits.
3. Directly supervises the instructors and safety officers during live fire operations.
4. Selected by the Academy Coordinator; has the endorsement of TO and District Chief.
5. Certification as IFSAC Instructor 1 or its equivalent.
6. Current fire officer in their department with a minimum 5 years of fire officer experience.
7. Demonstrates sound ethical standards and the ability to supervise others.
8. Desired qualifications include, but are not limited to:
a. Prior successful experience with the TFRTC Recruit Academy.
b. Previous experience holding staff positions of Instructor and Engineer for the TFRTC Recruit Academy.
c. Certification as Incident Safety Officer
