Engine Operator Requirements
To apply to assist with the upcoming Recruit Firefighter Training Academy as an Engineer, you must meet the requirements and responsibilities for this position as outlined below:
Requirements:
· Previous experience as a Pump Operator or Training Assistant or Pump Operator with a previous academy
· Be qualified as a pump operator within own district, and with the apparatus you’ll be operating.
· Sign a Code of Conduct Agreement
· A minimum of 2 years experience as a firefighter, AND attended a fire service training academy equivalent to the Washington State Fire Training Academy at North Bend.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct an inventory of pumper tools and equipment prior to and upon completion of each day for accountability purposes.
· Operate the pumper in a safe and effective manner
· Assist the Instructor in instruction and supervision of the company
· Wear appropriate PPE and model correct safety practices
· Serve in a secondary capacity as a Safety Officer at all times during training.
